The Independent Electoral Commission has encouraged the frail and disabled to register for special votes with specific focus on the registration weekend that is looming on 18 and 19 November 2023. In a recent consultation between the IEC and various disability organizations it has come to light that  up to date political parties apply for special votes for specific citizens and this has resulted in problems as the person in question would not be aware that they have been registered for special votes. The IEC and the disabled community jointly decided that it is a much needed conversation with political parties to curb the existing challenge.
