Police arrested 6 suspects in possession of transnet properties

Police arrested 6 men aged between 30 and 50 years old in the Kimberley CBD all from Daveyton, Gauteng on the 9th November 2023. Police spokesperson sergeant Merapelo Pilane says police received information pertaining to the theft of overhead Transnet copper cable at Dronfield near the N12. Pilane says no suspicious items were found in their possession and the occupants claimed to be traveling to Beaufort West. He says the maroon Toyota Yaris with Gauteng registration plates was later spotted by Bloemfontein police entering Bloemfontein. According to information, 6 suspects were arrested, tools and copper cable weighing 420kg with an estimated value of R90 480 was discovered and positively identified as the property of Transnet. Pilane says The damage to the infrastructure  is estimated at R124 000 and all 6 suspects will appear at Kimberley magistrates soon.
