The Emthanjeni Victim Empowerment Programme (VEP) by the Emthanjeni Committee from Social Development ended off a series of awareness programs they have been conducting to address the issue of social ills and how they affect learners at their local high schools. The unit shares on their official social media that they are conducting these programs as the festive season is near and is known to be one of the most chaotic seasons of the year, thus making it of utmost importance that learners are equipped with information that will be crucial to them, and ways in which they can keep themselves safe from harm as well as away from crime. The committee closed off their series with the Grade 8 Learners of Orion High School in De aar this week on the 7th november 2023, during which discussions were held with these learners about where and how to report rape,Sexual harrasment, The dangers of substance abuse, Teenage pregnancy, Human trafficking ,Gangesterism, and Juvenile detention centers.
