The suspect
in a murder case investigated by the Upington police following a shooting
incident in Scott Street, appeared at the Upington magistrate’s court today. Police spokesperson sergeant Omphile Masegela
says the incident occurred at around nine o’clock in the evening of Thursday, the 2nd of November 2023. The case against the 58 year old Hassan Hajat has been
postponed to the 18th January 2024 for bail application, he remains in custody. Sergeant Masegela said
upon arrival the police discovered the lifeless body of a man in the driver's
seat of a silver Toyota Corolla with a gunshot wound to his face. Masegela
stated that the deceased was shot during an alleged robbery. She said it was
alleged that after being shot the victim attempted to flee the scene but
collided with an electric box where the police found him.
