Operation shanela remains in reducing crime

A total of 12 224 disruptive actions in hotspot areas across the province were executed from Thursday, 2 November 2023 until Sunday, 5 November 2023. The South African Police Service says in a statement, their actions included 37 vehicle check points and 11 roadblocks during which a total of close to 2 500 vehicles were stopped and over 4000 persons were searched. Police says numerous compliance inspections by teams comprising of police and external role-players were conducted at second-hand dealers, scrapyards, liquor premises, tuck-shops, formal and informal businesses and mines. Police says they continue with Operation Shanela in an effort to reduce crime in all hotspot areas op the province.
