The farmers day market underway in Kimberley shines the spotlight on food insecurity. Phemelo Manankong, communications officer for the department Agriculture in the Northern Cape said that SA is a food insecure country and through initiatives such as the farmers market aims to use the platform to address the matter through the encouragement of growing backyard food gardens.
