The South African Human Rights Commission in the Northern Cape is leading an engagement in Okiep, in the Namakwa district today. The commission says, the engagement is held to discuss urgent issues related to land rights, the concerns of
indigenous communities, and the purported illegal mining activities in the
Namakwa district. The commission says the engagement started at 09:00 this morning and will be concluded at 13:00pm. In addition to giving a forum for conversation,
the Commission says the involvement of stakeholders will present a
chance to put forth sensible plans and suggestions that guarantee the defence
of human rights, environmental stewardship, and communal welfare.
