The residents of Dawid Kruiper
local municipality are in a tug of war, as local residents quarrel over the
quality of local tap water versus the bottled water bought at supermarkets. Bottled
water is often labeled as pure, healthy, and untainted and goes through a
process called reverse osmosis. However, there are speculations of whether the
quality is the same as that of the local waterwork plant claims to deliver.
According to the Dawid Kruiper local municipality, the Abraham “Holbors†September
waterwork plant is the biggest water plant in Upington and supplies water to
the entire district as well as neighbouring communities. A chemical engineer and
director at the municipality, Eloise Sago prides herself in the outstanding work
they do at this plant.

A
thorough explanation of the entire purification process that occurs at this
plant from start to finish was provided as well as record proof that laboratory
tests are done every 2 hours on the site to ensure the quality of water that
reaches the local community is top-grade. According to research, it is good to
note that even though bottled water looks and tastes better than tap water, reverse
osmosis does not only distill the water but strips away most of the valuable minerals,
microbes, and natural chemicals the body needs to sustain itself. Research also
suggests that regardless of what water is consumed, it is important to choose
water that provides adequate hydration as well as aiding in overall body
health.
