The Mothibistad Provincial Traffic, held a multi-disciplinary and women led road safety and crime fighting roadblock on the N14 road on Friday the 27th of October 2023. According to a statement, the program was held in collaboration with other departments including the South African Police Service, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Correctional Services, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), Government Communication (GCIS) and Ga-segonyana Municipality Traffic Department. In an official statement, the office says the main purpose of this day was to make road users aware of road safety issues and to forge a collective partnership with all road users and public about issues of crime and criminality in the District. The office further shares that this initiative turned out to be successful as the operation led to the arrest of four suspected illegal immigrants by the Immigration Officials from the Department of Home Affairs.
The Government Communications (GCIS) distributed government publications and information leaflets to motorists, pedestrians and public transport commuters at the roadblock.
