The Modderrivier police are investigating a case of concealment of birth after the body of a newborn baby was found in a shallow grave. According to a police statement, the incident happened on the 16th of October 2023 when a member of the community allegedly saw a pig carrying an object in its mouth. The police says, upon further inspection the object was identified as a baby with the umbilical cord still attached. The police request anyone who may have information that can assist in the investigation of the case and the tracing of the mother to contact the police. The police says, an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death and all information will be treated as confidential. Investigations continues.
