The Department of Social Development in Upington is
celebrating Social Development Month with an awareness campaign in Upington and
the surrounding areas. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the services
provided by the department. In an exclusive interview with Radio Riverside,
Godfrey Mjezu, the managing director of the department in the ZF Mgcawu
district, highlighted their efforts in combating social issues such as
gender-based violence, teenage pregnancy, and drugs and alcohol abuse. Mjezu
acknowledged the challenges they face with limited resources, including
finances, but emphasized their commitment to making the most of available
resources. He stressed the need for collaboration with stakeholders, including
the South African Police Service and other relevant departments, to effectively
