A manhunt in Marydale secured the arrest of a house robbery suspect and recovery of stolen goods on Saturday, the 14th October 2023. Police spokesperson Lieutenant colonel Sergio Kock says the 18 year old suspect allegedly entered the farm house near Marydale under the pretence of asking water from the elderly woman farm owner. Kock says the suspect allegedly overpowered the 66 year old victim and severely assaulted and stabbed her in the face and head and fled with 2 cellphones, vehicle keys, binoculars, alcohol and a cooler box. He says the victim was transported for medical treatment at a local hospital. Kock says police arrested the suspect the suspect on Monday, the 16th October 2023 on a farm near Vanwyksvlei and recovered the stolen property. He will appear in court soon.
