Applications for the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative for the 2023/2024 intake concluded yesterday.  The application period  for this fourth phase opened on 26 September 2023 which offers opportunities for Education Assistants and General school assistants. According to Portia October for Funda Wanda, there is much room for EA's to be incorporated and included in the classroom. October earlier said that many schools within the Northern Cape province do not utilise assistants to their fullest potential. She has reiterated that EA's should be utilised meaningfully  to impact positively in schools on what needs to be done and achieved. The Northern Cape Department of Education has during the intergovermental engagement  on the PYE said that the initiative has not just contributed to the betterment of livelihoods of the selected youth  but it has also sparked further interest in education.
