The agreement of security services between the Defensor security company and the provincial department of health was allegedly terminated on the 29th of September 2023. According to a letter from the acting head of department dated the 29th September 2023, the agreement of security guarding service was signed between the provincial department of health and the Defensor security company on the 20th of October 2017. This revelation follows a strike that took place at the Dr Harry Surtie hospital on Monday, 2 October 2023. The officials said they were going to strike until their demands are heard. At the time of the strike they allegedly have not received their September salaries, saying the employer used to divide salaries into 2 portions and paying it one after another. The security company was not available for comment.
