The MEC responsible for Education in the Northern Cape, Zolile Monakali, today hosted 100 educators as the education community celebrates world Teachers day. The provincial observation took place this morning at the Kakamas primary school in the ZF Mgcawu district. In a statement the department alluded that basic education is at the heart of building prosperous communities, and that the teaching profession plays a pivotal role in building a cohesive society. UNESCO inaugurated 5 October as World Teachers' Day. World Teachers' Day represents a significant effort to raise awareness, understanding and appreciation for the vital contribution that teachers make to education and development across the globe.
