Police executed operation Shanela at Kleinsee in the Namakwa district from 28 September 2023 to the first of October 2023 where they conducted stop and searches, compliance inspections and other cross border commodities smuggling. Police spokesperson sergeant Timothy Sam says this was evident in the operational successes achieved during intensified disruptive police actions across the province with a sharp focus on the reduction of contact and violent crimes in hotspots which netted a multitude of successes.
