Learners from 4 schools across the Northern Cape will represent the province at the 2023 National Schools Moot Court Finals which is set to take place from 04 - 08 October 2023 at the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg. These schools are Kimberley Boys High, Kimberley Technical High, Kgomotso High and Theron High school. The first national moot court competition was hosted in 2011 and has over the years seen more learners from all nine provinces presenting their arguments as Applicant's and also as Respondents to a panel of Judges. It aims to create greater awareness in schools and communities about the Constitution and the values that it embodies through active participation. The aim is also to encourage talented young people to consider pursuing a law career. This Competition provides a unique opportunity for learners to develop their research, writing and oral advocacy skills as they endeavour to come to grips with some of the constitutional issues that are presently facing communities and the country at large. Participants will be allowed to argue their case in any of the 11 official languages in an actual court scenario.
