A case of concealment of birth was opened at Kakamas on Friday, the 22nd September 2023. Police spokesperson captain Nelis Prins says a community member was searching for empty bottles in a garbage hole at Vaal compound nearby Alheit in Kakamas where he allegedly noticed a plastic bag covered with blood and opened it. Prins says the community member then discovered the body of a deceased newborn baby. Prins says an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of the death of the baby and is requesting the assistance of the community in locating the mother or share any information that can assist in the investigation of the case.
