In order to create a dynamic platform that supports, empowers, and celebrates small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs), the Zimele Hub at Kolomela Mine organized an SMME Market Day as a marketing platform for its Enterprise Development beneficiaries toward the end of Women's Month. Media Liaison officer at the mine, Sinah Potshana says, this was done with the intention of helping SMMEs make a difference in the Tsantsabane Local Municipal area, in Postmasburg. She says the day began with a formal program at the Sibilo Shopping Center, when Councillor Helena English, Mayor of the Tsantsabane Local Municipality, spoke to and encouraged the SMMEs. Potshana says the occasion featured two prominent female business owners, Allison Neels and Hilda Boorman, who took part in a panel discussion and shared their experiences as female entrepreneurs. She says it was a useful and enlightening conversation. The mining company says the Hub also improved ties with SEDA Northern Cape, which took part in the initiative.
