The Marcus Mbetha Secure Care Centre's school hosted an entrepreneurs day today which started at 10 this morning 10:00 at the centre. Radio riverside spoke to the principal of the school Dawie Klaaste who said the purpose of the entrepreneurs day is amongst other things to empower the children at the Centre. Klaaste says they sold hand made items which includes cupboards, clothing beadwork and others. He says these items were made by the children kept at the centre and formed part of their academic activities throughout the year. Klaaste also said, they aim to empower these children with skills which they could use to create work for themselves once they leave the Centre and get reintegrated into society. Klaaste says the proceeds of these entrepreneurs day are used towards purchasing new materials again which will be used for the beadwork, woodwork and other skills development classes. Klaaste says their entrepreneurs day is an annual event and acknowledged and expressed his gratitude for other stakeholders who contributed to the success of the day including the department of correctional services.
