The National Council Of Provinces week is currently underway in the Northern Cape and officially began on Monday the 11 September 2023 and is scheduled to continue till Friday 15 September 2023. According to a statement by parliament, the purpose of this week is to assess infrastructure projects across the province and in doing so thus far Members of the NCOP visited the Hull Street Integrated Project as well as the Riverton Plant in the Sol Plaaitjie municipal area,  which supplies water to the whole of Sol Plaatjie excluding Ritchie. The statement further says that the Riverton plant was visited and was identified as having infrastructure challenges as it is quite old, but they noted that the BFI project is currently addressing all these issues which will lead to the refurbishment of the plant. It is further added that members of the council will for the rest of the week visit more sites in the Frances Baard and John Taolo Gaetsewe municipal areas.
