The Northern Cape Department of Transport, Safety & Liaison says it will host the 2023 women in transport Awards in October. The month of October is annually observed as transport month. Spokesperson of the department, Rennie Andrias says, the award ceremony strives to recognize the need for women to advance and be empowered in the transportation sector, which is dominated by men. The department requests that all nominations be submitted on the proper nomination form, which is available at the Traffic Stations across the province and the department of Transport, Safety & Liaison District Offices for pickup and delivery. Andrias say amongst the five categories they will be awarding women in include, Excellence in Leadership, Apprentice of the Year,  and Women with the Best and Outstanding Performance in the Law Enforcement Section. The department says in a statement, the MEC Nomandla Bloem will be honoring women in the province, who played a role in transforming the transport industry with contributions made towards supporting, developing, and empowering themselves and other women within the province.
