Paballelo high school Learners

The department of education in the Northern Cape says it is appalled and disturbed by the inappropriate behaviour of Grade 12 learners at the Paballelo High School in Upington. In a statement the department says, a group of Grade 12 learners, were yesterday involved in an incident, which created havoc on the school premises and disrupted schooling. According to the department grade 12 learners entered the school premises and threw paint and trash at learners and educators, fortunately no one was injured. Spokesperson of the department Geoffrey Van Der Merwe says the school identified 12 Grade 12 learners who were directly involved and guilty of orchestrating this deplorable incident. These learners were issued with suspension letters, until their formal disciplinary hearing on the 7th of September 2023. Radio Riverside visited the school yesterday where some learners shared their disappointment in what happened as some learners were allegedly admitted to hospital after allegedly being pepper sprayed………. INSERT (MENTALITY EDITED) The parents who want to stay anonymous, say they are not happy about what happened yesterday but accept it because it is said that it is the at the school. They say it is unfortunate for learners who were affected by the celebration of the grade 12 learners to be admitted at hospital. The parents say the following…………. "Insert (PARENT INSERT ENGLISH) The Department of education says it has requested the District Office and the School Management to arrange a meeting with the parents of Grade 12 learners to pave the way forward. The department says have also directed that the implicated Grade 12 learners should be allowed to write their Preparatory Examinations, at a different venue under supervision, whilst the investigation and disciplinary hearings are in process.
