The Northern Cape Department of Education has approved the delivery of 14 mobile classrooms for the SC Kearns High School in the ZF Mgcawu District. According to a statement by the department, a report received from the structural engineer indicated that it is safe to proceed with repair work to the damaged classrooms. The department says learners who are currently accommodated at the Olyvenhoudtsdrift Primary School will be relocated upon the arrival of the mobile classrooms. The Department futher says, they are in the process of appointing a contractor to start the repairs to the existing school building. It is expected that all work will be completed early in the 2024 school academic year. This follows after a section of the school building burned down earlier thia year, which contains 16 classrooms. The SC Kearns High School accomodates more than 1200 learners of which 175 learners are in Grade 12.Â
