The department of Social Development in Upington says they play a secondary role towards preventing the increase of teenage pregnancy statistics in the country. Supervisor to social workers in Upington Lynn De Wee says the contributions and support offered and made available to pregnant teenagers and youth in Upington is secondary to the role of the department of health in providing support. De Wee says the support the department provides includes the availability of support groups for young mothers and sex education classes where the youth is taught about the risks and consequences of early sexual conduct.....INSERT  (de wee 1) De Wee says in an event that a teenager find themselves in such a position, they can approach the offices of the department of social development where social workers are always on standby to assist.
