Joe morolong municipality hands over a victim friendly facility

MEC for the department of transport, safety and liaison in the Northern Cape Nomandla Bloem handed over a victim friendly facility at Severn Police Station as part of their Mandela Month celebrations this past week. Councilor Naomi Mokweni who is an EXCO member highlighted some of the challenges that are faced by the Municipality, including Gender Based Violence, teenage pregnancy, unemployment, transportation, roads amongst others and pointed out that the handover will play a major role in addressing some of these challenges more especially in Severn and Madibeng Villages. The MEC Bloem at her turn said the facility should serve as a place of refuge and help for victims. She also added that, a safe, secure and conducive environment should be created in order for victims to feel protected at all times. As a further effort towards their activities for mandela month, the MEC and her entourage also went to visit the elderly in Madibeng and handed over winter essentials to them.
