17 Northern Cape Young Scientists Head to National Science Fair

Seventeen young scientists from the Northern Cape are preparing to showcase their research at national level later this month at the 2026 Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair.

The learners, from schools in Prieska, Upington, De Aar, Kimberley, Postmasburg, Kathu, Calvinia and Carnarvon, will gather with other young scientists at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Johannesburg from 29 September to 2 October.

A total of 316 young scientists from across South Africa will participate, along with 24 international participants from countries including Brazil, India, Ireland, Russia and China. The Northern Cape learners represent schools from the Kimberley, Kalahari and Namakwa regions.
