Upington Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Murder of Friend
The 34-year-old Lrikou Nomgojo has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Upington regional court, for the murder of his friend, 36-year-old Lucky Dondolo. The sentencing was handed down on Thursday, 30 July 2025.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela, the incident occurred on 10 August 2024 at the accused’s residence, where the two friends had been sitting together. An argument reportedly broke out between them, leading Nomgojo to assault Dondolo with a pick handle.
Sergeant Masegela said police found the lifeless body of the victim lying in the street after it had allegedly been dragged from the house. Dondolo was certified dead on the scene.
Sergeant Masegela added that the South African Police Service remains committed to ensuring justice and the safety of communities.
