De Aar Police Recover Stolen Goods Worth Over R1.2 Million, Suspect Arrested

The South African Police Service in De Aar says they have arrested a 30-year-old man and recovered stolen items valued at more than R1.2 million.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam, the arrest follows a theft out of a motor vehicle and a separate theft from a guesthouse in De Aar, reported between Friday, 1 August 2025, and Saturday, 2 August 2025.

Sam says the police responded after the guesthouse owner lodged a complaint about items stolen from a guest’s vehicle. He says investigations led officers to an abandoned house in Kort Street, De Aar, where the suspect was found in possession of various stolen items. 

The suspect is expected to appear before the De Aar Magistrate’s Court soon.
