Different departments held human trafficking in Sunrise

Various government departments, including Communication Services, the Department of Social Development, Home Affairs, the National Prosecuting Authority, the South African Police Service, and the Department of Health, hosted a joint event at Sunrise Community Hall on 30 July 2025.

According to information, the event aimed to raise awareness about human trafficking—a serious violation of human rights that involves the exploitation of individuals through force, fraud, or coercion. Victims are often subjected to forced labour, sexual exploitation, and other forms of abuse.

According to the police, millions of people are trafficked worldwide each year. They emphasized that 30 July, recognized as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, is dedicated to highlighting the plight of victims, promoting their rights, and calling for stronger action from government, civil society, law enforcement, and the private sector to combat this global crime.
