ZF Mgcawu Residents React to Cross-Border Crime Bust at Kosi Bay
Community members in the ZF Mgcawu District have spoken out about the ongoing challenges of crime following a significant breakthrough by the Border Management Authority (BMA) at the Kosi Bay Port of Entry on 5 May 2025.
BMA guards intercepted and recovered three high-value vehicles suspected to be linked to transnational crime syndicates attempting to smuggle them into neighboring countries. According to BMA Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Communication and Marketing, Ms. Mmemme Mogotsi, one of the suspects—traveling en route to Malawi—was found in possession of seven mobile phones for which he could not provide proof of ownership.
Additionally, BMA officers stopped a white Toyota Hilux driven by a Mozambican national, as well as a black Toyota Corolla Cross, both reportedly en route to Mozambique.
Commissioner Michael Masiapato praised the swift and decisive action taken by the BMA officers.
