Oranjerus Resort Faces Uncertain Future After Repeated Flooding

Oranjerus Resort, located along the banks of the Orange River, is facing operational challenges following a series of natural and economic setbacks. Established by the Wiehahn family, the resort has historically offered camping facilities and a restaurant, catering to both local and visiting guests.

According to a statement released, the resort sustained major damage during a flood in 2011, requiring an extended recovery period. Further disruption followed during the COVID-19 pandemic, which severely impacted the hospitality sector. Additional flooding occurred in 2021, 2023, and most recently in 2025, causing repeated setbacks to infrastructure and operations.

In response to the latest damage, the resort's management has initiated a public appeal for support.
