SAFCEI Executive Director Francesca De Gasparis pleads with residents of the Northern Cape to have a say on the life extension of Koeberg Nuclear Power Plant, as today marks the deadline for public Submissions.

The Koeberg Nuclear Power Plants 40-year lifespan is coming to an end in 2024, With Eskom seeking to extend Koeberg’s operation by another 20 years. Today, 16 March 2023 marks the deadline for South Africans to have their say on the life extension of the Koeberg Nuclear Power Plant. Executive Director for South African Faith Communities’ Environment Institute (SAFCEI) Francesca De Gasparis urges the people of the Northern Cape to seek out information as very little is being done by the government to inform the country especially people in the Northern Cape of radioactive waste, that will now be liquid waste that's reported to be coming up to the Northern Cape.
