MEC of Coghsta to visit the disaster sites in Sutherland today

MEC for the Department of Cooperative Governance Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs Bentley Vass together with MEC of Social Development Nontobeko Vilakazi are scheduled to visit disaster sites in Sutherland today following a thunderstorm with strong winds on the 2nd February damaging electrical Infrastructure between Sutherland and Laingsburg which has left communities in the area without electricity since the disaster occurred. Spokesperson of the department Babalwa Mzambo says that since the occurrence of the disaster in an attempt to provide assistance, a 132kV double circuit has been on the ground affecting the towns of Fraser burg but has the resulting impact of restricted access to banks, cellphone networks, shops, schools, and hospitals and additionally, the food supply and access to healthcare have also been affected.
