The IEC in a statement extended its gratitude to the department of Home Affairs for going the extra mile, as 300 of the Department’s offices were open the past weekend facilitating the collection and issuance of necessary documents for registration purposes which also includes the Upington office of the department of home affaires.  The commission stated that for Saturday, 18 November 2023 only, over 26 000 online voter registration transactions were recorded on the registration portal, which is according to the commission the highest registration activity ever recorded on a single day.  The ZF Mgcawu district makes up the total number of 326 000 voters who visited their voting stations and had their applications processed using the Voter Management Device (VMD) in the initial hours of day one.
